Screening Recommendations
The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that adults with no signs or risk factors for eye disease should get a baseline eye disease screening at age 40. As you age, screening is important to maintaining eye health.
People at risk for eye disease include those with a family history of eye disease, diabetes or high blood pressure. These individuals and any person of any age with symptoms should see an ophthalmologist to determine how frequently their eyes should be examined.
