This week Copley Hospital welcomed Anesthesiologist Sarah Blair, M.D. to its medical team. Dr. Blair joins Anesthesiologists Mirjam McCormack, MD, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Joan Fox and Susan Lawlor. In addition to providing pain relief for surgical patients, Dr. Blair will be working closely with the Birthing Center, offering epidural anesthesia, the most popular pain relief method among birthing mothers.
Dr. Blair received her BA at Colorado College followed by her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She fulfilled her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Vermont and recently completed her anesthesiology residency program at the University of Utah. Dr. Blair is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists as well as the International Anesthesia Research Society.
The role of an Anesthesiologist includes providing medical care before, during and after surgical procedures. They work closely with the patient and the entire care team. Prior to surgery, an Anesthesiologist meets with the patient and performs a preoperative medical evaluation. They consult with the surgical team and create a plan for anesthesia tailored specifically for each patient.
Copley Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Sarah Blair to its medical staff and to our community.
